Destination Weddings in Merano
Located in the Tyrolean Alps, the charming town of Merano is a fortified Medieval city dating back from the 13th century in the region of Alto Adige. During the 16th century it became the city of choice of the nobility who moved here and built sumptuous palaces, contributing to the elegant architecture that can still be admired today. Later, in the 19th century Merano became a popular spa town. As you stroll along its streets you can admire some of the finest Liberty-style buildings in the entire Sud Tirol. The Kurhous is one of the finest examples in the entire region as is the Post Office Bridte and the Civil Theatre.
Civil weddings in Merano are held in a beautiful miniature castle right in the heart of the town. The hall holds about 30 guests and retains original décor, furnishings and coats of armour dating back to the middle ages. The floors are intricately carved in woods and the atmosphere is one of a kind.
Protestant and Catholic churches are available to celebrate religious weddings. The countryside is absolutely enchanting, surrounded by apple orchards and vineyards climbing up into the green hills and mountains. Several exceptional castle hotels are available for your reception; just ask your personal wedding coordinator for some recommendations. The town is an ideal starting point for skiing and other alpine sports. In the summer you can visit the various small medieval hill towns and stay in romantic chalets with panoramic views of the Alps.
